Being city-dwellers, we don’t have the opportunity very often to get away from light pollution. In the Lost Sierras of California is a very small town called Clipper Mills. We have the very good fortune to visit this area each year for a bluegrass music festival. After the instruments were put away for the night, we’d set up our tripods to capture the Milky Way and star trails with exposures ranging from 30 seconds to 3 hours, in silhouette or with painted light.
